Establish an industrial chain of Sci-fi publication and film production
Guo Jingming is well known for his youth literature with great commercial values. The publication of book "Tiny Times" and its adaption to films showed Guo Jingming's success. However, Guo Jingming's ambition is far beyond that. According to a representative of Changjiang Literature and Arts Press, early in 2011, Guo Jingming began planning to enter the science fiction creation area, "He has already published his own science fiction series 'Ages below Critical' and his company's author Hen Shu's 'Swan' on a science fiction fascicle called 'Zui Fiction' on magazine 'Zui Novel',which received the same great audience response as 'Zui Novel' received."
Without hiding his ambitions, Guo Jingming indicated that the reason for cooperating with science fiction writers was to "combine science fiction publication with film production and establish an industrial chain in the future."
During the past few years, Guo Jingming has already signed contracts with new generation science fiction writers such as Chen Qiufan, Chen Yilu, Fei Dao and Bao Shu. Chen Qiufan said, "Guo Jingming is a very successful cultural promoter in this era. He has an extraordinary sharp business sense and great judgement. He always knows the interest and trend in the market."
Guo to make science fiction films in the future
In 2013, Guo Jingming's directed films "Tiny Times" and "Tiny Times2" received a box office of nearly RMB 1 billion Yuan. He targeted science fiction films in the future. "I watched 'Electric Boy' when I was young. It is my first and only memory of Chinese science fiction film. In China, there exist huge audience needs of science fiction. However, why is the development of Chinese science fiction films so slow? I believe it is not only the business of film industry but also the responsibility of the publishing industry where the science fiction creations come from."
Guo Jingming stays positive in terms of whether the science fiction industrial chain will bring him huge economic benefit. "Science fiction will be the focus of future literature and film production. It is the audience and market that give me such great confidence. The breakthrough of Chinese science fiction films hasn't been realized yet," said Guo Jingming.
