Chinese PLAN Admiral Wu Shengli Visit Submarine USS JEFFERSON CITY

September 9th local time, the Chinese Navy fleet joins the U.S. Navy in a search-and-rescue exercise in the sea off Hawaii. The two navies set out four ships, three helicopters and more than 1,000 officials and sailors. This is the second time for Chinese ships to visit the U.S. The last time was back to 2006. On the same day, Wu Shengli, member of Chinese Central Military Commission and commander of the People's Liberation Army Navy, was invited to visit the U.S. attack submarine USS JEFFERSON CITY.

Chinese Navy fleet arrives in Pearl Harbor
September 6th local time, No. 113 Chinese Navy fleet, which consists of the guided missile destroyer Qingdao, a frigate Linyi and a supply ship with a total number of 680 officers and sailors on board, arrived in Pearl Harbor of Hawaii for a three-day visit. During the visit, American and Chinese soldiers played football and basketball together. They also communicated through on deck conference and sports.
During the drill on Sept. 9th, Chinese Navy fleet sent the guided missile destroyer Qingdao, the frigate Linyi and a Z-9 helicopter, while the U.S Navy sent the guided missile cruiser USS Lake Erie, a SH-60 Seahawk helicopter and an UH60 Blackhawk Helicopter. Besides, the U.S. Navy also sent a merchant ship that simulated a sinking ship.
Second time for guided missile destroyer Qingdao to visit Hawaii
The drill supposed there was a sinking ship on fire in the Pacific with sailors overboard. The American and Chinese soldiers practiced operating ships at sea, conducting searches and rescues, and sending small boats back and forth to rescue the men overboard. After the drill, the U.S. Navy and Chinese Navy achieve several breakthroughs including both sides' helicopters flying in formation for the first time, the establishment of joint damage control team for the first time and both sides' air forces searching the same sea area for the first time.
