Authorities gave the all-clear signal a little before midnight after setting up a perimeter around the University of Alabama's female dormitory late on Sunday following reports of a gun threat.
Social media posts and rumors that spread all over the university about a threat of gun violence in Tutwiler Hall, an all-female dormitory at the Tuscaloosa campus, have been dismissed late on Sunday after the police officers did not find weapons and suspicious individuals in the area.

According to the university paper, "The Crimson White", students in the dorm and members of the university's Greek system received an email about a gun violence threat from a person hiding behind the pseudonym "Authur Pendragon."
Despite a lack of a specific 'eyewitness' to the threat, authorities 'thoroughly' scoured the building at around 11 on Sunday evening, locking down the all-female dormitory.
With about seven police cruisers surrounding the perimeter, no one was allowed to go in or out of the dormitory while the police conducted their search for around 45 minutes. All dorm residents were advised to stay in their rooms during the search.
After authorities announced that the threat was bogus, and the lockdown had been lifted, several students carrying overnight bags, pillows, and other items were spotted leaving the dorm, apparently intending to spend the rest of the night someplace else.
On Monday, university officials stated that the threat was originally posted in YouTube over the weekend.
According to the university's statement posted on their website, authorities have determined that there was no threat in the area after processing recent updates and comments on the YouTube post. These were all considered as clues, which prompted investigators to declare the case's closure.
No casualties and no violence were reported over the course of the search, as well as after the lockdown as classes and campus operations are expected to go back to normal.
