During a privately held event in New York City Friday night, Republican Gov. Chris Christie told conservative donors that he's lost 85 pounds following his surgery in 2013.

The event was held at David Koch's 18-room duplex in the Upper East Side, and was attended by fellow Republicans and was off-limits to the media.

A guest present during the event told the New York Times that the donors were questioning Christie about the state of his health.

While the governor did not reveal his current weight, he said he had lost 85 pounds and still has to lose some more.

According to the Times, the possible 2016 presidential candidate joked to donors that he was once told by a doctor to have a right relationship with the food he eats, to which he answered, "believe me, for many ears, I had a great relationship with the foods I ate."

Christie has fought weight problems since his early adult life.

While he was running for re-election in October, his doctor, Rachana Kulkarni, released a  report saying that the governor is now living a "healthy lifestyle."

In February 2013, the 52-year-old governor went through a weight loss procedure, which he said he did for his family and for himself.

Christie denied allegations that it was politically motivated, and has since refused to answer questions related to his weight.

During an interview with John Catsimatidis, a Republican mayoral candidate last year, he said the governor has noticeably lost some weight when he saw him at an event on Sept 19.

Catsimatidis added that Christie was picking on his food and refused to reveal his current weight.

David Koch, who hosted Friday's event, is a billionaire and republican financier who founded the group Americans for Prosperity. Reports say that Christie has been seeking the support of the billionaire as a major donor in his campaign.
