7th World Economic Forum “Summer Davos” Launched in Dalian

The 7th World Economic Forum "Summer Davos" was launched in Dalian on September 11th through September 13th, 2013. The theme of this year's World Economic Forum is "Meeting the Innovation Imperative". The forum, featuring an intensive and interactive three-day meeting, will explore and address how to unleash innovation, transform industry ecosystems, connect markets and build societal resilience. More than 100 events such as the Opening Ceremony, the Entrepreneurs' Forum and panel discussions will be held during the three-day forum. More than 1600 people, including heads of state and government, officials, entrepreneurs, scholars and media representatives, have already confirmed their participation.

According to China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei, this year's World Economic Forum is based on current situation where the world economy is now going through a period of deep and profound changes and China's economy has shown positive signs in recent time. All parties are paying close attention to the world economic recovery, the economic trend of emerging markets and China's relevant policies. Around the theme of "Meeting the Innovation Imperative", the forum is expected to gather objective analysis of current economic and financial situation and encourage guests to brainstorm, thus contributing positive ideas to the world economy.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang attended the opening ceremony, making a keynote speech and exchanging ideas with representatives of entrepreneurs. Li Keqiang will meet with heads of state and government from countries including Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Malta, etc.

"In the forum, future business and society leaders will share their ideas with representatives from leading international companies, industry leaders, governments, media, academia and civil society. They will together work out the impetus for improving competitiveness and promoting economic recovery," said Executive Director of China World Economic Forum Shi Liwei.
