It was previously reported that it is understood that Zhao was responsible for reuniting the two stars. Zhao is said to have helped Tse and Wong get back together.

Zhao, however, refuted the rumors that she played matchmaker between the two celebrities, saying that she did not even know about Tse and Wong's reconciliation until she saw the news on the Internet.

It was speculated that Zhao had hinted about the relationship, believed to be going on for six months now, when she had a guest appearance in Tse's food travelogue program 'Chef Nic'.

On said episode, Zhao reportedly said, "It looks like someone didn't love the wrong person." The public then assumed that the actress is talking about Wong. The actress, who is also a film director, stated that she was not referring to Wong when she said that, also adding that she wouldn't have made jokes on live TV about them had she known of their relationship.

Additionally, Zhao stated that even if Wong is her friend, she is an adult and she can make decisions for herself which Zhao would respect especially because Wong is older than her.

Zhao then diverted the topic to the film she is promoting, revealing that her character portrays a widowed woman who lives in a small village. The actress said that she is happy about the film despite the change in her usual roles.

It has also been revealed that the film deals with the topic of children being abducted from the rural villages in China.

'Dearest' also features Lei Hao and Huang Bo and will be released in theatres on September 25.
