Apple successfully launched its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus recently, and took the perfect opportunity to highlight security and privacy. According to analysts, Apple will have a competitive advantage against Android because its ecosystem is robust, paving for more business opportunities.

For Apple, this is most certainly a defensive strategy, in light of the recent cyber attacks on the iCloud accounts of celebrities. Apple has gone on record saying that their customers' trust means everything to them. Users' privacy is respected and is protected with strong encryption, and strict policies. These policies include those wherein authorities or the company itself are barred from accessing users' data.
On devices running the new iOS 8, personal data and information like pictures, email and attachments, messages, reminders, etc. are placed under the protection of users' passcodes. Apple's security and privacy measures are taking center stage because of the newly introduced Apple Pay.
While Android users are at the mercy of their hardware and carriers, Apple users are given masterful security and privacy features with iOS 8. Even if Android had the same features, the nature of their operating systems would prevent adoption. Apple has also highlighted how its business does not sell any advertising, therefore it does not depend on "datamining" their users. If Facebook and Google had adopted Apple's policies in regard to "datamining" their users, they would have lost money because they would no longer be able to target certain users for ads.
Blackberry may lose its market share because it has been making money due to its enterprise security and device management. If Apple has already taken away the security advantage with the help of the partnership with IBM, Blackberry may not have much time left.
While there are all these improvements on security and privacy that Apple has done, they are still urging users to use the tools made available to them like the passcode used for locking the device.
Apple is certainly a game changer and is making large strides in the tech industry.
