Beijing - September 13th, despite Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's device business, which may let Microsoft be capable of manufacturing smartphone hardware on it own, a Huawei executive says on Thursday that Huawei will continue to manufacture smartphones that run Windows Phone's system.

At the start of this year, Huawei became the fourth company to make Windows Phone for Microsoft. In January 2013, Huawei launched its own Ascend W1 smartphone running Windows Phone's system. Previously, Nokia, Samsung and HTC have begun to sell Windows Phones, among which, Nokia contributed to the great majority of all Windows Phones' sales.

Richard Ren, Huawei's executive for European consumer unit, said: "We will continue to develop Windows Phone devices. And we will launch more products."

After Microsoft announced its acquisition of Nokia's device business last week, the market is worried that the relationship between Microsoft and its hardware partners will become more complicated, especially in the field of smart phones. However, it is somewhat a great relief for investors to hear Huawei's such reply.

The reason why Microsoft acquired Nokia's device business is to let Microsoft launch Windows Phone devices more quickly. However, analysts worry this may lead other hardware manufacturers to drift apart from Microsoft. Since Microsoft unveiled its Surface tablet last year, there have been subtle changes between Microsoft and its other PC manufacturers.

As for Huawei, in fact Windows Phone does not occupy an important position among all its devices, because most of Huawei's smartphones run on Android system. According to market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), in first half of this year, the global shipment of Huawei's smartphones ranks fourth in the world with a total number of up to 20 million.
