The Modern Family Star Sarah Hyland has slammed her ex-boyfriend with a restraining order as she claimed that the guy had choked her and threatened to kill her. Even her mom was a witness to the abuse that she had suffered from.

Matthew Prokop, the ex, had reportedly terrorized her verbally and physically, over the past four years that they have been together.

Prokop also appeared on the show where Hyland stars in. According to, Hyland's complaint, Prokop argued with her back in May about her outfit. He had choked her as she was pinned against a car and he reportedly called her c**t numerous times.

Hyland said that his grip was so tight that she could barely breathe nor speak. She then knew that she was already in an abusive relationship.

Her mom in the show, Julie Bowen, was said to have aided in ending Hyland's relationship with Prokop.

According to Hyland, she purchased a plane ticket for Prokop to send him back to Texas. However, upon arriving at his home seeing Julie and other people who wanted to talk to him, he had freaked out and ran outside then started to scream.

Aside from the physical abuse, Prokop also threatened to set one of Hyland's homes on fire. He even threatened that Hyland would never see her dog Barkley ever again.

Also, after their break-up, Prokop sent her threatening texts and voice mails including suicide threats.

Sources said that Prokop was detained at a rehabilitation center back in August but got out a month after. The doctor who handled him immediately called Hyland and advised her to get a restraining order since his behavior and mental stability really posed a threat.

The judge then who handled the case has ordered Prokop keep away. The order imposes a 100-meter ban from Hyland.

Prokop or his representatives have not commented on this issue yet.
