Samsung launched the Gear S at IFA 2014 in Berlin. It's the first smartwatch that displays notifications and make calls without the help of a smartphone.
It features a curved 2.0-inch Amoled display designed to better fit the wearer's wrist. It has a 480 x 360 resolution and a 1 GHz dual-core processor under the (tiny) hood.
Its internal storage is 4 GB and the has 512 MB of RAM. The battery is 300mAh that can last up to two days on a single charge.
It's also dust and water resistant. It runs the new Tizen OS of Samsung and will offer more than 1,000 apps during the launch.
Gear S has a built-in microphone and speaker that lets a user make calls or voice commands directly on the watch. It relies on Bluetooth connectivity to sync up with the smartphone. Along with these features, it also adds a 3G radio.
Aside from taking calls and its messaging feature, Gear S also handles emails and maps.
Samsung hasn't yet announced the selling price of the Gear S.
