Early in 2001, during the Three Tenors' Concert in Beijing, Dai Yuqiang was discovered by the agent of the Three Tenors and became a student of Luciano Pavarotti. During the 6 years before his death, Luciano Pavarotti taught Dai Yuqiang singing techniques and invited Dai Yuqiang to his place in Italy for several times. When recalling his teacher, Dai Yuqiang said, "Since the first time I heard about teacher's death, I couldn't keep calm. It has already been six years. Every time I recalled him, I remembered his sincere hope and his positive attitude when he was ill. I feel I have to contribute more to my teacher." In the concert, Dai Yuqiang will sing "O sole mio" together with Luciano Pavarotti via advanced video technology. In addition, Pavarotti's pianist Rolando Nicolosi will accompany Dai Yuqiang during the concert.
According to the organizer, more than 20 pieces of Pavarottis' most representative works have been chosen for the concert. Dai Yuqiang and his students will sing the classic opera arias, once sang by Pavarotti and composed by Giacomo Puccini, Gaetano Donizetti, Giuseppe Verdi, Jules Massenet, etc., together with Luciano Pavarotti's favorite songs such as "Torna a Surriento", "Santa Lucia", "La Traviata - Drinking Song" and "Non ti scordar di me". One of Dai Yuanqiang's student Yang Guang, who is a blind singer standing out in the TV show "Avenue of Stars", will also perform in the concert. What's more, the organizer will present some precious video clips and photos of Luciano Pavarotti.
