American technology company IBM plans to open a new and gigantic cloud computing data center at the Research Triangle Park in North Carolina.
With increasing demand for continuous operational cloud and mobile services, the new center aims to expand the company's involvement in the new age of cloud computing.

The facility intends to cut recovery time from service interruptions from 48 hours to only minutes.
It is currently the largest IBM site in the United States, covering 72,000 square feet of space.
The company, with over 150 centers in 50 countries, plans to open two new centers in India and Turkey by the end of the year, specifically for cloud resilience.
Of these 150 centers, 90 percent have cloud resilience capabilities. This marks a new step by IBM towards cloud resiliency.
"These new facilities, which will join the 150 resiliency centers and 15 other global centers planned by SoftLayer, will speed up recovery times by virtually eliminating network latency while allowing businesses to manage federal and local data residency compliance regulations," said IBM Business Continuity and Resiliency Services Vice President Mike Errity.
The facility uses networking resilience called RecoveryNet, a high-capacity and private utility network that supports cross-site connectivity.
With RecoveryNet, the center makes use of multiple carriers including CenturyLink, Level 3, Verizon, Time Warner Telecom, AT&T and Frontier to address latency issues with customer sites.
