Yi Jianlian, is a Chinese professional basketball player, and the power forward, and center for the Guandong Southern Tigers of the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association). He also played in the NBA (National Basketball Association) for the New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Milwaukee Bucks, and for the Washington Wizards. He averaged less than 5 rebounds and 8 points per game during his career in the NBA. He just signed a new contract with the Guandong Southern Tigers last week.

Among the five players who played in the NBA, Yi Jianlian is in the second place when it comes in games played, although he is far behind to the eight-time All-Star center Yao Ming who played in the Houston Rockets  from 1997 to 2011.

According to Yi Jianlian, mentioned good things about the progress of the Chinese League just a few days ago, quoting the participation of NBA players like Stephon Marbury, and Tracy McGrady. But the NBA is far ahead from the Chinese Basketball Association, and that margin does not look like its closing anytime soon. But more upsettingly, no Chinese player in the league may potentially bridge that margin by successfully playing in the NBA.

One of the important aspects in playing basketball is height, not like in any other main sport, but the Chinese team is considered as one of the tallest teams in the world.

During their Campaign at FIBA Asian Championships last month that was held in the Philippines, the Chinese Men's National basketball team had their poorest performance since the team joined the tournament in 1975. With only six wins, and three losses to those teams ranked a combined 62 places behind them in the world rankings. The Chinese basketball team finished the tournament only in fifth place. Obviously the China's basketball tactics is not working.
