Malcolm Young Leaves AC/DC

AC/DC, the famous Australian rock band, has lost another one of its founding members. The band released an announcement yesterday, September 24, that Malcolm Young, rhythm guitarist and lead guitars Angus Young's brother, had to leave the band because of his degrading health.

The announcement also covered the group's plan to release their album, "Rock or Bust" in December. It is their sixteenth studio album, and they would tour around the world next year to promote it.

Malcolm's health problems first caused an issue in April when it sparked rumors that the band would go their separate ways after their 40-year career.

"It's quite serious," said Mark Gable in an interview last April. Gable is Malcolm's friend. He also commented that Malcolm is unable to perform live and might not be able to record.

AC/DC has suffered losses of other members, with only Angus Young as the remaining original member. Stevie Young, Angus and Malcolm's nephew, will take the rhythm guitarist's place.

AC/DC previously lost its original vocalist, Bon Scott, in 1980 when he suffered complications after a night of drinking heavily. He is the voice behind their hits "T.N.T" and "Highway to Hell."

Scott was then replaced by Brian Johnson, British singer, and Rock and Roll Hall of fame inductee. His first album with AC/DC was "Back in Black", which eventually became the band's second best-selling album in the world.

Despite not being as popular as the band's vocalist and his brother, Malcolm was an integral component for the band's sound as he contradicted the conventions of rock when he used medium-sized amplifiers calibrated to moderate volumes.
