Molecule that Stops Cancer Cells from Spreading Found by Researchers

Researchers from the University of Missouri have discovered the molecule that can be manipulated to prevent cancer.
Senthil Kumar, one of the researchers, said this communication system can be used to command the actions of cancer cells - and even command them to die.
He said the multiplication of bacteria causing cancer depends on signals released by the molecule.

Kumar and his colleagues found out that if they introduced the bacteria that makes cancer cells stop spreading, they stop spreading.
He said they used pancreatic cancer cells to test the validity of their study because these are the most aggressive and hard to kill cancers.
This treatment shows promise against aggressive cancer cell. To date, researchers are looking for more efficient way to introduce the molecules to cancer cells before testing this in animals and humans.
Kumar said their biggest challenge is finding ways to effectively introduce the molecules because they can only treat cancer cells in laboratories.
He said they're working on a method that will allow them to treat animals with cancer to validate the effectivity of their findings.
Kumar said that if future animal studies prove to be successful, they can use this method to cure human cancer.
