"The acquisition of Neul gives Huawei improved access to the growing and exciting market in the IoT, which enables advanced connectivity of machines, devices, systems, and services under a variety of applications." Huawei said in a statement.
"Huawei is delighted to have acquired Neul and its ground-breaking innovations in the IoT. Huawei has no doubt that the IoT market offers huge scope to expand and to deliver important new services and solutions to our customers."
In the past, Neul developed a wireless networking technology called Weightless, a wide area wireless air interface designed specifically for the Machine-to-Machine or M2M and IoT market.
The UK company developed the world's first city wide network using TV white spaces. It also launched its first silicon radio chipset using the Weightless technology.
In addition, both companies in the past worked together for nine months on narrow band cellular. The narrow band is designed for future 3GPP standards for connecting low data rate devices.
Huawei expressed interest in Neul's innovative technologies.
"Neul is a leading R&D and competence centre, based in Cambridge, UK, providing end-to-end solutions including chipset and platform, base-station and cloud management systems."
