China’s Foreign Minister Commits Support for the Middle East

The top foreign policy official of China recently attended a press conference in Algiers where he announced China’s pledge to provide support for Arab countries. The Chinese foreign minister, Wang Yi, and his Algerian counterpart, Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra conducted a joint press conference last weekend.

According to Foreign Minister Wang Yi, his country has always considered developing a strategic and long-term relations with the Arab countries. China’s foreign policy for its Arab allies are contained in the four-point support policy for these countries.
China has reaffirm its stand of non-intervention and respect for independence and sovereignty of the Arab countries in terms of the development path they choose. The Chinese foreign minister has stressed that the Chinese people understand the longing of the Arab countries for reform. China respects the right of these countries to find the best-suited political system and developmental paths that will fit their national situations.
The Chinese top diplomat has clarified that China’s support is for peaceful political means in resolving divisive issues in the region. The foreign minister said that disputes should be settled through dialogues and negotiations. He reiterated that China is supportive of the peace process and is amenable to actively participate in diplomatic negotiations.
China seeks to improve the cooperation with Arab countries in achieving common development. "There are huge potential and broad prospects for China-Arab cooperation. China is willing to connect the Chinese Dream of realizing national rejuvenation with the Arab people's dream of pursuing national prosperity and revival, and to enhance pragmatic cooperation in all areas in order to bring more benefits to the people on both sides," Wang said during the press conference.
According to the Chinese foreign minister, the support of the People’s Republic of China for the Arab countries is focused on safeguarding the legitimate rights of these countries. China is against the military and economic incursions of other powerful countries in the name of anti-terrorism and human rights. China maintains that the Arab countries have the right to self-determination and dignity as equal members of the global community.
