Rachel McAdams To Play Female Lead Role in 'True Detective'?

'The Notebook' star Rachel McAdams is said to have secured the female lead role in the second installment of the HBO series 'True Detective'.

According to insider reports, HBO offered the role of Colin Farrell's opposite to McAdams and the actress will be starring in the second season of the series along with Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch.

HBO has already announced that Irish actor Colin Farrell is going to play the lead in the second season of 'True Detective' along with Vaughn and Kitsch, but they have not announced who will be playing the female lead role.

Several actresses were named to be in the running for the role including Jessica Biel and Rosario Dawson who co-starred with Farrell in the film 'Alexander'. Now, rumor has it that McAdams is a frontrunner for the role.

An insider also tells news outlets that McAdams is about to film 'Spotlight', a drama that deals with a scandal in the Catholic Church that was uncovered by the Boston Globe. The insider also says that McAdams is still checking whether her schedules will fit that of the filming of 'True Detective'.

Sources are not saying that McAdams has made a deal with HBO in the last 24 hours and that the actress says she can do both projects.

The actress is said to be expected to play the role of a police officer alongside Farrell and Kitsch while Vaughn will be portraying the role of the person behind the crimes that will happen in the story.

Season two of the series is said to be set in Los Angeles and revolves around the story of three police officers who will uncover a web of crimes which resulted after one murder case they were investigating.

Despite the claims, HBO has not released a formal statement to confirm or refute the rumors.

On the other hand, McAdams is already expected to have a busy schedule next year with several projects lines up for her, including Jake Gyllenhaal's 'Southpaw' which will be released next year.
