61-year old Malcolm Young is reportedly said to have officially left AC/DC due to dementia.
In April, Young took a break from the iconic band because he was suffering from an undisclosed illness. His family asked for privacy during the difficult time.
However, his condition is said to have progressed to the point that he can no longer go back to performing.

In a statement, the band shared, "Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm's condition, he will not be returning to the band. AC/DC will undertake a world tour in support of 'Rock or Bust' in 2015. Stevie Young, nephew of founding members Angus and Malcolm Young, plays rhythm guitar on 'Rock or Bust' and will accompany the band on tour."
Because of his illness, Young has allegedly been moved to a nursing home in his native Australia where he will be given full-time care. The nursing home is Lulworth House in Elizabeth Bay in Sydney which specializes in caring for people with the degenerative disease.
"If you were in the room with [Malcolm Young] and walked out then came back in one minute later he wouldn't remember who you are. He has a complete loss of short term memory. His wife Linda has put him in full-time care," a source shared.
On the other hand, the band confirmed that they will be back to touring around the world in 2015 to promote their upcoming 15th album, "Rock or Bust".
Young wrote majority of the lyrics of the new songs. His younger brother, lead guitarist Angus, will be taking over the writing.
AC/DC is an Australian hard rock band formed in 1973 by the Young brothers, Malcom and Angus.
The band, which has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, are considered to be the pioneers of heavy metal.
