(Photo : REUTERS/SUHAIB SALEM) Senior Fatah official Azzam Al-Ahmed (L), head of the Hamas government Ismail Haniyeh (C) and senior Hamas leader Moussa Abu Marzouq hold their hands after announcing a reconciliation agreement in Gaza City last April 23, 2014.
Hamas and Fatah have finally reached an agreement regarding the Palestinian Authority to control over the Gaza Strip as well as establishing a Palestinian state at the 1967 borders, a Fatah official reported on Thursday.
The agreement was reached because of the plans in reconstructing f the Gaza Strip. Hassin Alsheikh of the Fatah group confirmed this news and said that it was effective as soon as possible.

Musa Abu Marzouk of Hamas also stated during a joint press held in Cairo that they have indeed agreed to what will aid the unity of the Palestinian government. He added that there will be a joint committee that will be supervising the agreement and will be closely working with the government. This committee will be ruling on any disagreement between the two factions if the need arises.
The meeting in Cairo was said to have been for the two factions to dismiss their differences in order to have a stronger relationship in preparation for the slated talk with Israel by October.
Due to this, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in a statement that the reconciliation between the two groups as well as the resumption of their government over the Gaza strip will be a good factor presented to the international community for them to donate for the reconstruction of the said area.
Abbas' government has already been tasked before to take over the Gaza Strip the moment the attacks broke between Israel and Palestine. However, the argument between the two Palestinian factions made it less possible for the government to take over.
Sources said it was due to the unpaid salaries of Gaza's public sector workers that caused the tension between the factions to get even higher causing them not to settle with any offer made by Abbas' government.
Another issue that will be discussed would be the border crossings in Gaza. Abu Marzouk, the chairman for the political bureau of Hamas noted that the United Nations will have to go over this as well as the unity of the Palestinian government.
The UN will be agreeing with Israel as to how to run the border crossings, Marzouk added.
These issues will be contended as President Abbas will be addressing the recent reconciliation of Fatah and Hamas during the UN General Assembly by Friday. He is expected to be talking about what transpired in the meeting in Cairo on Thursday.
