China and Spain Ink Deals Worth at US$4 Billion

China and Spain signed deals valued US$4 billion during the state visit of Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy in Beijing, according to Xinhua.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and the Spanish Prime Minister met at the Great Hall of the People on Thursday, and signed 14 documents covering cooperation deals in various sectors. These include nuclear power, telecommunication and finance cooperation. It also include areas of wind electricity, film, alfalfa export, and tourism as well as sea water desalination.

Li stressed in the meeting that China has been giving great importance to the diplomatic ties with Spain. He also added the Chinese government is ready to keep its engagement with Spain and maintain a high level of mutual support with each country’s interests and major concerns. Furthermore, Li said the two countries would expand cooperation, continue close contact and coordinate on regional and global affairs.
The Chinese Premier also urged both China and Spain to keep expanding bilateral trade. He also said the two sides should strengthen cooperation in bio-medicine, aerospace, energy and finance. Li also talked about promoting balance and sustaining economic growth along with boosting cultural exchanges through language teaching programs and foreign exchange student grants.
Li also noted Beijing would encourage Madrid to invest more in the country. He added China hopes Spain could provide policy guarantees that would enable visa facilitation for Chinese nationals. The Spanish government said it is willing to reciprocate the cooperation with China which would be in favor of its economy.
The Spanish Prime Minister said the country would provide visa assistance within 48 hours for Chinese nationals who want to spend their vacation in Spain.
Li also commended Spain for promoting stronger China-European Union ties.
