AT&T announced Friday on its website that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha would be available to subscribers through the mobile service provider's website and retail outlets.

The price of the smartphone depends on how the consumer would purchase it. If the subscriber chooses the general two-year contract with the company, one must pay $200 upfront for the device. Choosing the company's Next 18 installment plan would let the buyer pay $25.55 a month for the next two years, with an option to upgrade after the 18th payment. If the consumer chooses AT&T's Next 12, the phone would cost $30.65 per month for 20 months, with a choice to upgrade after 12 payments.

On the other hand, if the consumers that wish to forgo a contract with the telecommunications firm should prepare $613 for the full retail price of the handset.

The Alpha, which is already out in the United Kingdom, officially launches only via AT&T in the United States.

Samsung's Galaxy Alpha distances itself from the rest of the company's Galaxy catalogue as it dons a metal band around its edges, although its back is still made of plastic.

The Alpha sports a 4.7-inch High-Definition Super active-matrix organic light-emitting diode display with a screen resolution of 720-by-1280 pixels and a pixel density of 312 per square inch. It has a 1,860 milliampere hour battery, two gigabytes worth of random access memory, 32 gigabytes of built-in storage and no card slot for expandable memory.

It is also equipped with a 12-megapixel back camera, a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera, an Exynos 5 Octa 5430 chipset, a Mali-T628 MP6 graphics processing unit and a quad-core 1.8 gigahertz Cortex-A15 and quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 processors running on Android's KitKat 4.4.4 operating system.

The handset comes in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver and Scuba Blue color schemes.
