Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus was released Friday in more than 20 countries, resulting in fans waiting in long lines to get their hands on the latest handsets by the tech giant.

The new iPhones went on sale in Austria, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Netherlands, Portugal, Norway, Russia, Qatar, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.

The queues for the smartphones formed in new launch spots, as well as some venues from the first round of releases in the countries that received the iPhones first, and drew crowds just as the debut of the devices did in the previous week.

Moscow saw a big wait, according to TechCrunch, with reseller shops crowded with people, and Istanbul had a line that twisted around a public park. Given its proximity to China, where the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus has not yet earned a solid launch date, Taiwan had long lines, and people in Amsterdam lined up for blocks in bad weather.

Apple said it has already sold 10 million devices, due to its limited stock, in the first weekend of their launch. The company's online store showed that all of its iPhone 6 models would be shipped in seven to 10 business days, while its bigger brother, the iPhone 6 Plus, wouldn't be shipped until three weeks or more after it is ordered.

The owners of Apple's latest phones should be careful in what they read online about their new device as some are led to believe that iPhones running on iOS 8 can be charged with a household appliance used to heat food.

Online pranksters have assembled an official-looking product page that describes Apple Wave, a game-changing process that is allegedly part of the upgrade to the iOS8 operating system, said Digital Trends.

"Wave is our latest and greatest addition to iOS 8," said the faked ad. "Wave-charge your device by placing it within a household microwave for a minute and a half."

Images of the false feature have surfaced in social media sites, including Imgur, where some gullible iPhone owners even posted the aftermath of microwaving their devices.
