Microsoft's Xbox One to be Launched in China on September 29

Xie Enwei, general manager of management and operations of Microsoft in China, speaks during the presentation of the Xbox One by Microsoft as part of ChinaJoy 2014 China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference in Shanghai July 30, 2014.
Microsoft is gearing up to introduce Xbox One in China following a series of launch delays in the previous weeks. Xbox One is set to enter the Chinese market on September 29.
Xbox One is the first game console to penetrate the Chinese market after the country raised a ban on imported gaming consoles 14 years ago. Microsoft joins the ranks of Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo's Wii in competing for high-end Chinese consumers.

According to a report from Reuters, the Xbox One console will be priced at 3,699 yuan (US$602.76) but is sold at 4,200 yuan (US$700.53) with the Kinect motion detection system.
Microsoft's Xbox One game console was previously scheduled for a September 23 launch, but due to undeclared causes of delay, Microsoft opted for a launch before September ends.
Microsoft and its Chinese partner, BesTV New Media, released a new statement before the week ended saying that approval from China's cultural commission may have contributed to the delay of shipment and unveiling of the gaming console.
Companies that want to penetrate the Chinese market with their gaming products must first seek approval from the Chinese government, particularly from Shanghai's local culture department.
The approval and examination by the office ensures foreign products will not harm, destroy or influence China and its citizen's identity. Likewise, the approval will be able to censor games they deem obscene, violent and political in nature.
According to Enwei Xie, Microsoft's general manager for Xbox China, Xbox One will be unveiled on September 29 with the first wave of games approved by the culture department to be introduced to the market. Microsoft will continue to work on new sets of Xbox games and improving app experiences.
Gaming research company Newzoo lists China as one of the top 10 countries with the biggest gaming revenues. The United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, Korea, France, Canada, Italy and Spain also made the list.
