Vaughn shot his former employee Alton Nolen after the latter went on a rampage attacking Vaughn's two other workers--beheading one and leaving the other in serious condition.
Being a reserve officer with the sheriff's office, Mark sprung to action when his business was at risk with the perpetrator reportedly a copycat of the ISIS group in Syria and Iraq.
Officials from the sheriff's office praised the courage of Mark saying that the incident could have gotten a lot worse had it not for Mark's bravery and presence of mind.
"I am extremely proud of the actions of Deputy Vaughan and I believe those actions saved the lives of countless others," Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel County Sheriff said.
Whetsel said Vaughan ended the threat by open firing at the suspect who was attacking his second worker at the food distribution plant in Moore, Oklahoma.
Oklahoma County Sheriff Whetsel has released a statement last Friday. The statement said that Vaughan joined the reserve in June 2010 and is assigned to the Patrol Division.
He is also a member of the Fast Action Support team and is a "highly" trained member of the Tactical team.
Vaughan, for all his achievements, is a simple guy who loves the Boy Scout and enjoys quail-hunting in his spare time.

Whetsel has only praises for his deputy saying that Vaughan is the kind of example of the significant men and women that the citizens need.
The Moore community has only good words to say to Vaughan. They said that the deputy has a kind heart and that amid the police brutality being done by other police officers on people, Vaughan is a courageous and kind officer who protects the rights of the civilians.
