The self-proclaimed "King of Dublin," Conor McGregor, collects his third US $50,000 bonus in the UFC, alongside former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz in the UFC 178. The last two bonuses went to a controversial match.

McGregor dispatched his opponent Dustin Poirier in 1:45 of the first round.

Poirier landed some leg kicks and a punch to the face, but aside from McGregor's growing arsenal of kicks, the Irishman's footwork on a cornered opponent led to a glancing left hook behind the ear.

Poirier fell face-first into the mat, with a few punches that prompted the referee to stop the fight.

Dominick Cruz won his award all the way from a preliminary bout with Takeya Mizugaki.

Cruz proved that he was back in championship form, taking down Mizugaki and landing more than 20 unanswered punches until the referee saw enough.

UFC President Dana White announced after that Cruz would fight current bantamweight champion, TJ Dillashaw.

The final bonuses came from the middleweight bout between Yoel Romero and Tim Kennedy.

Romero was rocked just at the second round ended, struggling on wobbly legs. He went to his corner and sat on his stool, and did not immediately stand when the bell for the third round rang.

However, Romero soon came into the third and caught Kennedy and sent him reeling. Romero came back and finished Kennedy with vicious ground and pound.

Society has dubbed the controversial moment as "Stoolgate."

The main event featured bantamweight champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger Chris Cariaso.

Johnson came out with his hands up, his footwork dancing around Chris Cariaso's own heavy stance.

Johnson's takedowns were such a big factor in the fight. When they were standing though, the champion used his angles and picked his quick, crisp, and technical shots.

Johnson submitted Cariaso two minutes in the second round with a kimura arm lock. This marked the first time the kimura was used to win a championship fight.
