"Something In The Water" is being heralded by critics as Carrie Underwood's strongest single yet. The new song is the lead single of her new album, "Greatest Hits: Decade #1", due for release on December 9 of this year.

The said single is set for release on September 29.

"Something In The Water" is a song about meeting someone, "a preacher man" who changes her life for the better, who inspires her to become stronger than she thought she could ever be.

Opening up about her new album, Underwood shared, ""It's really kind of a joyous, uplifting song about changing your life for the better and kind of having that 'a-ha' moment, to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward."

Although the new album took some time to be released, the "American Idol" alum has kept herself busy these past two years. She portrayed the iconic Maria von Trapp in the NBC adaptation of "The Sound of Music". Underwood also teamed up with country superstar Miranda Lambert for a duet.

It has been two years since the release of her previous album "Blown Away", and the new musical compilation comes just in time for the holidays as welll as the period in which the singer and her husband are enjoying the anticipation of becoming first-time parents.

She said that being pregnant and becoming a mother is a surreal experience. Sometimes she feels that her life isn't real.

"It's still kind of weird, to be honest. Sometimes I'll be with my husband and I'm like, 'I'm going to be a mom. You're going to be a dad. Like, is this real life?' But we're really excited," she shared.

She shared that because she had such a good mother herself, she feels ready and prepared to be a role model to her own child.

Underwood and her husband-athlete Mike Fisher tied the knot in 2010.
