Publisher Hustchinson, which will be releasing the writer's final poetry collection, also expressed their sadness over the loss of Abse, saying that despite this sorrowful time, his poems will live on.

Abse was able to form the integral forms of his poetry by basing his writing style on his career as a doctor, his Jewish background and Welsh nationality.

The 'Speak, Old Parrot' writer won many awards which included Wales Book of the Year 2008 for 'The Presence' which is a memoir Abse wrote for his late wife, Joan, after she died in  car crash in June 2005. The book did not just include the writer's grief, but also chronicled their 54 years together.

His poems include 'The Two Roads Taken: A Prose Miscellany,' 'Yellow Bird Sheep,' 'Running Late Hutchinson,' and '100 Great Poems of Love and Lust: Homage to Eros' among others.

Abse also wrote several fiction pieces, with 'The Strange Case of Dr Simmonds & Dr Glas' being his latest work in 2002, also listed for the Booker Prize.

The previous year, to celebrate his 90th birthday, he had released a collection of poetry which he called 'Speak, Old Parrot' wherein he tackled themes of love, moral implications, loss and medicine. In his work, he has also included the nature of creativity and Jewish folk tradition.

On the other hand, his poetry collection 'Ask the Moon' is due for release in February next year.
