Taiwanese TV producer Angie Chai denied reports that she is involved in alleged bribery cases in China.
Chai said she was only needed by authorities conducting the probe as a witness.
Focus Taiwan reported Chai was informed that the Jilin provincial prosecutor office in China has already notified the Ministry of Justice of Taiwan. This was related to bribery allegations where Chai was needed as a witness.

Online rumors started going around that Chai has been involved in a bribery case. The TV producer said this has caused damage to her reputation.
Last week, rumors started coming out in China saying a hold-departure order would be imposed on Chai and another executive working in with her in the same company once they enter the country. The rumors were later affirmed the Ministry of Justice of Taiwan.
Chai was said to be wanted for a bribery scandal which involves China’s main state broadcasting company, China Central Television. The TV producer said she has previously helped a Chinese friend to acquire Taiwanese TV programs to be aired in China. Furthermore, Chai said that could be the reason for her being called to witness in the said bribery scandal.
Chai also added she has contacted the Ministry Justice of Taiwan to ask for further information about the case. However, she was not given any response other than “no comment.”
The producer said she is willing to cooperate with authorities in China. However, she cannot stay for 3 months in the country while the probe is going on as this would affect her job, she said. Chai also revealed she has contacted the Chinese authorities and asked permission to go back to Taiwan after airing her side of the story. However, no reply was made.
The 52-year old Taiwanese TV producer is behind hit shows including Meteor Garden in 2001.
