Moto X 2014 vs. Samsung Galaxy Alpha: Features, Specs and Price

Motorola recently released its second generation Moto X while Samsung Galaxy Alpha was launched a bit earlier in September.
Consumers should do the comparison of both devices before purchasing. Specifications, features and price are the things to look for when making a comparison.

Hardware, OS and memory
Samsung Galaxy Alpha: The device runs under Android v4.4.4 KitKat OS with TouchWiz UI. It's powered by a superior octa-core (Exynos 5) processor, clocked at a killer combination of four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 cores. It has a 2GB of RAM and comes with a 32GB of storage.
Moto X: The handset runs under Android v4.4.4 KitKat OS (upgradable to Android L). It is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.5 GHz. It features a GB of RAM and offers 16GB and 32GB of internal storage.
Both handsets don't support expandable memory option.
Phone display and size
Samsung Galaxy Alpha: The 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display has 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution. The pixel density is at 312 ppi. It features a metallic frame cover that elevates the device's look, and the back is made of the same faux-leather material similar to Galaxy S5.
Moto X: It's relatively bigger with 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution and has 424 ppi pixel density. It sports an aluminium frame and both front and back panel can be personalized. Its bigger logo at the back is encircled by a metal ring.
Camera and battery
Samsung Galaxy Alpha: Sporting a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and has 2.1-megapixel snapper. It contains a Li-Ion 1860 mAh battery.
Moto X: Its front camera is 13-megapixel with dual-LED flash while sporting a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies. It comes with a solid Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery unit.
Added features
- Both handsets support near-field communication (NFC).
- Motox 2014 can be charged for 15 minutes and lasts up to eight hours.
- The infrared sensor of Moto X can be used to turn off the alarm clock or reject calls by swiping the hand above the screen.
- Galaxy Alpha is equipped with the fingerprint scanner for unlocking the device and payments via mobile are possible.
Price
Samsung Galaxy Alpha: The device with 4G LTE capability costs US$655.
Moto X: The selling price is US$500.
