It is known that after Tencent becomes a shareholder of Dazhong Dianping, Dazhong Dianping will collaborate with WeChat and Tencent QQ, both of which are instant text and voice messaging communication service developed by Tencent Holding Limited. As a leading online urban guide in China, Dazhong Dianping provides local business recommendations, discounts and user-submitted reviews of local businesses. In the future, Dazhong Dianping may introduce social networking features into its website after collaborating with Tencent.
Moreover, Tencent stresses that after the strategic investment, Dazhong Dianping will keep its independent operation and development as before, while the founders and CEO of Dazhong Dianping will still gain control of the company.
Why does Dazhong Dianping choose to cooperate with Tencent? According to the press conference held by Tencent, in the future, there are two possible lines of development for Dazhong Dianping. Firstly, it can upgrade from a traditional information service platform into an O2O closed loop. Secondly, it can develop its business from China's first tier and second tier cities into China's third tier and fourth tier cities. Based on these two facts, WeChat will help Dazhong Dianping to achieve its goals.
"Specifically, with the support of WeChat, user volume of Dazhong Dianping will increase rapidly. Payment with WeChat will bring Dazhong Dianping more sales. What's more, Tencent's users will help Dazhong Dianping develop business in third and fourth tier cities of China." Tencent says.
