Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his intent on reviving Confucian philosophies to be applied to the modernization of the country during the celebration of the 2,565th anniversary of Confucius' birth last week.
With the theme "Confucianism: World Peace and Development," the Chinese President had commemorated the philosopher's legacy emphasizing that the topic is of "great significance" during his speech at the celebration held on September 24 with the Fifth Congress of the International Confucian Association.

In front of an assembly of Confucian scholars, Xi explained how China's progress can be cultivated through delving into "the cultural bloodline" of the country.
According to Xi, major issues involving peace and development can be humanized through the long Confucian legacy in both domestic and international communities.
"Confucianism has morphed with the times, and evolved in accordance with corresponding conditions, constantly refreshing itself while responding to demands of the times. This is why it has had such lasting vitality," he stated.
He then went on and recited key ethics and principles which he believes can be applied to promote individual character and provide moral grounds for those serving the people, paving the way to the success of his administrations bout against corruption not just in the government but all over China.
Confucius' philosophy is focused on correctness of social relationships, justice, sincerity and personal and governmental morality and has made popular the Golden Rule declaring that one should not do to others what they do not want to be done unto themselves.
A politician, a teacher, an editor and a philosopher of the 'Spring and Autumn period' of Chinese history, Confucius became famed for authoring many classic texts including the five classics such as the Classic Poetry, the Book of Documents, the Book of Rites, I Ching or the Book of Changes and the Spring and Autumn Annals.
