China's Environment Ministry remote sensing monitor shows that 1.21 million square kilometer of China's mideast area was influenced by air pollution, and therein 850 thousand square kilometers was polluted more heavily than others, including Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong areas.
Nine cities such as Beijing, Xitai, Zhangjiakou have had severe air pollution. Beijing's Air Quality Index was 305, which ranks as severe air pollution. The primary pollutants were Particulate Matter 2.5 and Particulate Matter 10.
According to the representative of China's Environment Ministry, there are three primary causes of the large-scale heavy air pollution, including the large amount of heavy loaded pollutants, disadvantaged weather conditions making pollutants difficult to diffuse in time as well as the influence from motor vehicles and heating systems.
China's Environment Ministry has been increasing the inspection and alarm for air quality, publishing the air pollution information on time, and preparing the responses for heavy air pollution.
At the same time, the Environment Ministry mobilized 12 inspection teams to Beijing and other important adjacent cities to inspect the air pollution. Every other area has also adopted measures to handle the air pollution situation in order to decrease the effects of heavy air pollution.
Before the 26th, the condition of the air may not maintain well. Tianjin and northern part of Hebei will mainly have middle to heavy pollution. Beijing and the midsouth Hebei will primarily have heavy to severe pollution. On the 27th, the heavy pollution in the areas above will hopefully be eased by cold weather.
