Bryan Mills, played by Neeson, is shown as having been reunited with his family. From the first installment wherein his daughter Kim was taken, to the second flick wherein his wife Lenore was kidnapped, Mills has since built a much stronger bond with his daughter and, has rekindled his relationship with his estranged wife played by "X-Men" star Famke Janssen.
However, like the two other "Taken" movies, his happiness is short-lived as he discovers his wife dead on the bed and, he is immediately accused of her murder. Without anyone to trust, Mills has to find his wife's killer, while at the same time, protect Kim, portrayed by actress Maggie Grace.
Mills is pursued by both European terrorists, the Los Angeles Police, the CIA and the FBI.
In a phone call to his daughter, Mills says, "Listen carefully, Kim, something terrible has happened to your mom. ... Don't trust anyone."
Mills is also shown talking with the government official who leads the hunt, played by actor Forest Whitaker, to let him know that his priority is protecting the one he has left - his daughter Kim.
"I'm going to finish this," Mills says as the trailer ends.
When asked by USA Today if he thought there would be a fourth movie, Neeson stated that he didn't think so and that if his daughter in the film were to be taken again, it would be "bad parenting".
