President Xi visits Beijing Hutong

President Xi Jingping arrived at Nanluoguxiang Yuer Hutong in Beijing at 11 a.m. on 25th. He went into two quadrangle courtyards and visited general public in there.
Two residents described the condition of that time. According to the elder, Guan Shiyue, 68, President Xi came to his house about 11:20 in the morning and sat on the sofa to talk with his wife for 15 minutes.

Guan lives in an old house located in No. 29 Nanluoguxiang Yuer Hutong. "At that time, President Xi was sitting beside me. He looked like very easy-going and nice. We talked a lot. President Xi was focusing on the issue of rebuilding the old house at Hutong. He asked me if I would like to move to other bigger places to live and what opinions that I had about the current living environment."
Guan said, "I have been living in here for a long time and have had a very deep emotion with the life at Hutong. Therefore, I am hoping that I will be able to move back here to live after the rebuilding project finishes. President Xi expressed his understanding to my choice, and that kind of understanding made me very touched. I hope my old house can be rebuilt."
Li Chenhua, another long-term resident who has been living in the Yuer Hutong, was also very luckily met Xi. Xi kindly shade hands with him and talked with him in front of his courtyard. "When I mentioned my experience of serving in countryside and working in a production team, President Xi asked me which production team I was working at with concern. He also shared some of his fun stories when he was working in his production team. We are the persons who had unforgettable 'educated youth' experiences. I felt he was very happy when talking about this topic."
