A smooching machine called "Kissenger" allows couples in long-distance relationships to transmit kisses to each other via the Internet.
Kissenger, short for "Kiss-Messenger," is a device invented by Artificial Intelligence researcher and Assistant Professor Hooman Samani of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Taipei University in Taiwan.

This virtual kissing machine is equipped with motion-sensitive electronic "Lips." Long-distance lovers have to connect the smooching device to computers via USB ports and kiss the gadget on its "Lips."
The lips of the Kissenger will transfer the sensation to another device, replicating the feeling of a real human kiss, reports confirm.
Samani said that Kissenger is designed "to augment already existing remote communication technologies."
Samani conducted a study called "Scientific Justification" to test the functionality of the smooching machine. In the study, 10 long-distance couples were asked to use the device for three weeks.
The device evolved from being an egg-shaped "head" with dark-red lips to a softball-size version with a pair of silicone lips and bunny-type ears.
Samani, Kissenger's creator, aims to make the kissing machine available for sale in 2015 for US$50.
Kissenger is already being advertised on kissengers.com and is available for pre-order, reports said.
