PepsiCo, the creators of our all-time-favorite soda is about to launch its latest soft drink, Pepsi True. This is said to be a mid-calorie soda and is going to be sold via Amazon.com. The product is expected to be out around the second week of October.
Pepsi True is reportedly made with a natural sweetener--a combination of sugar and stevia. After CocaCola's release in Amazon over a month ago, Pepsi True would now become the second largest soft drink company that is exclusively sold online.

Coke introduced the same naturally-sweetened and mid-calorie soda known as Coca-Coca Life, which was introduced in Argentina last year and in the US last month. The two key ingredients, sugar and stevia, are also found in the new Pepsi product.
Meanwhile, Pepsi True is hitting Amazon before the new soda goes to convenience stores, retail outlets, and supermarkets. This would allow the customers to be more familiar with the product while allowing the company to gauge their response.
John Sicher of Beverage Digest said that both Coke and Pepsi are doing some experiments to find better ways in launching their products. He added that the bottling systems would do better in the business if they have established more products. It would be a good move if both these companies launch their soda drinks with the aid of Amazon before even hitting the market especially if the experiments succeed.
Furthermore, both these companies are engulfing the market especially when diet sodas declined. This goes hand in hand with the lowered consumption of these products due to the concerns of consumers against obesity. Last year, the consumption of diet soda fell to 6.3 percent as compared with regular soda that only fell 1.7 percent.
Researchers say that the declines were due to the concerns regarding the use of artificial sweeteners, which caused people to gain weight. Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke made use of an artificial sweetener called aspartame. Amazon listed Pepsi True as the fifth brand that now carries their name. They then plan to sell their newest product through digital advertising and sampling where Pepsi True will come in a 60-calorie-7.5-ounce cans while Coca-Cola Life with a 60-calorie-8-ounce bottles.
According to Sicher, the growing set of consumers does not only go for natural products, but also go for natural sweeteners in their drinks. In contrast to the previous issues regarding obesity, the beverages with reduced calorie and comprise natural sweeteners would then make it enticing to consumers today.
