Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr., the initial suspect in the case of the missing University of Virginia (UVa) student Hannah Graham, is now being linked to other cases involving missing women from past years, reports suggest.
Matthew was charged with abduction with intent to defile. According to Virginia law, suspects linked to such cases are required to submit DNA for testing.

Shortly after the DNA results were released, Virginia State Police announced that there is a "forensic link" connecting Matthew to another missing woman's case back in 2009. The woman, Morgan Harrington, was also a UVa student who vanished after she went to a Metallica concert held in the area. She was found three months after in a hayfield miles away from her home.
Another case that happened in 2012 was also linked to Matthew's DNA, which involved a woman getting raped in Fairfax, Virginia. Fortunately, the victim survived the attack after a passerby saw what was happening and the aggressor reportedly fled the scene.
On Wednesday, a statement has also been released by Lori Jacobs, the spokesperson of Christopher Newport University (CNU) claiming that Matthew was involved in an alleged sexual assault case that occurred in the campus on Sept. 7, 2003.
There were no injuries or fatalities reported after the alleged assault, but the case was published via the campus newspaper of CNU. The report indicated that Matthew attended the school from Jan. to Oct. 15, 2003.
Matthew was also a member of the football team of CNU from Aug. 14 to Sept. 12, 2003. He played as the defensive lineman of the team. The pictures shown now showed a different version of Matthew, who had no facial hair or dreadlocks as seen in CNU photos.
When the news broke in CNU, Matthew reportedly left the university. However, police did not charge him with any crime. CNU will be fully cooperating with the law-enforcement agencies and officials, Jacobs added.
Meanwhile, the judge handling the case of Graham said that although there is strong evidence presented in court by the police authorities, the missing UVa student should still be found alive to obtain firsthand details regarding the incident.
Graham has been missing since Sept. 13. Matthew was said to be the last person seen with the 18-year-old student.
