The 2022 Winter Olympics has lost another potential host, leaving the International Olympic Committee at a loss.

It seems that no country wants the honor of hosting in eight years-time.

Oslo, Norway was the latest country to drop its bid for the sports event. They announced last Wednesday that their government would not support it financially, as the total cost of the games is reported to be around, US $5.4 billion.

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Soldberg said recently that there is not enough support to carry through with the expansive project. "Without enthusiasm, it's not natural to carry this through," she said.

The price at which the Winter Olympics needs makes it hard to support. Russia spent a hefty sum of US $51 billion for Sochi.

Canada and Italy did not spend that much, with the former spending US $4.6 billion and the latter only US &700 million.

While the cost can be reduced, it is still a significant investment. People are saying that "honor" to host is not worth it anymore

A total of four countries have already backed out of the hosting responsibilities.

Lviv, Ukraine was the first, backing out due to political unrest in their country. Stockholm, Sweden relented due to their lack of government support, and Krakow, Poland revealed that a vote showed that 70 percent of the residents weren't interested.

Residents from Switzerland and Germany also voted against pursuing bids.

Almaty, Kazakhstan and Beijing, China are part of the original bidders that are still in the running.

China can be the first ever country that has hosted both the Summer and Winter Olympics, but, Kazakhstan seems to be the favorite.

The IOC has until July 2015 to vote.
