According to statistics, over 66.8 million people in the United States viewed "House of Cards," including the President Obama. In China, there are also quite a lot of fans chasing this hit drama. As for this, some Chinese denizens said there was no chance for Chinese directors to produce such an amazing television drama series.
On March 4th, according to the official blog of China Newsweek, Zhang Guoli, an award-winning Chinese film actor and director, responded to the question when he attended China's NPC & CPPCC Session. Zhang Guoli said, "People often say Chinese television drama is not attractive. Why can't we produce any television drama series like 'House of Cards'? Well, in fact, even if we do produce a television drama series like 'House of Cards', can it go through China's strict censorship of the media?"
Zhang Guoli stated, "China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television should make no difference between domestic television drama and foreign television drama. This will be good for Chinese film and TV drama producers to create more high-level drama."
