The statement likewise expressed the council's sincerest sympathy and condolence to the victims of the attack, their families and to the people and government of China.
The Security Council also emphasized that all those responsible for the attack-its sponsors, financiers, organizers and perpetuators should face the consequence of their acts so that justice will be served.
The terrorist attack which happened last Saturday night at Kunming, a famous tourist city, claimed the lives of 29 civilians and injured 130 other innocent civilians.
The municipal government of Kunming said Sunday that pieces of evidence gathered from the crime scene show that the terrorist attack staged at the city's railway station was planned and organized by Xinjiang separatists forces. No further details were however disclosed.
No foreigners were killed or injured during the attack according to a report from the foreign affairs office of the provincial government of Yunnan province. No compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan were among the victims either.
The deadly attack was strongly denounced by the international community as well.
U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon through his spokesman also expressed extremely strong condemnation for the horrifying attack. "The secretary-general notes that there is no justification for the killing of innocent civilians and hopes that those responsible will be brought to justice," read the statement issued by Ban's spokesman.
