Taiwan National Palace Museum’s popular meat-shaped stone will be part of an historic exhibit in Japan.
The meat-shaped Stone can be likened to a pork belly cut. It is made from banded jasper and measures 5.73 cm tall. The artifact dates back to the Qing Dynasty and will be part of the second phase of overseas exhibit in Japan.

The stone is among the two popular stone pieces of the museum along with the Jadeite Cabbage with Insects. It will be on display from October 7 in Fukuoka, Japan. The exhibit will run for two weeks with Kyushu National Museum hosting the show.
The exhibit also showcases other artifacts from Taipei’s National Palace Museum. This will include ceramic, jade and bronze pieces, paintings, calligraphy and embroidered objects. The Kyushu museum would display 110 works from the National Palace Museum and will run until November 30.
The exhibit would also have the same title from last June 24 to September 15’s show at the Tokyo National Museum.
The meat-shaped stone will be shipped within the coming days. The exact shipment day was not revealed for security reasons.
Last June, the Jadeite Cabbage was also brought to Japan for an overseas exhibit. The show also went on for two weeks at the Tokyo National Museum.
Department of Antiquities Section Chief Chang Li-tuan said on Tuesday the meat-shaped stone would be shipped to Japan under tight security as when they shipped the Jadeite Cabbage.
The opening of the exhibit on October 6 in Japan will be headed by Premier Jiang Yi-huah’s wife Li Shu-chen and will end on October 23. The exhibits held in Kyushu and Tokyo are parts of the exchange program for the Japanese and Taiwanese museums.
While the public is waiting for the meat-shaped stone to be on display, three other jade cabbage themed sculptures along with the Jadeite Cabbage are on exhibit.
