Raising the issue of Hong Kong first, U.S. secretary of state John Kerry called for restraint.
"As China knows, we support universal suffrage in Hong Kong in accordance with the basic law. And we believe in open society with the higest possible degree of autonomy, governed by the rule of law is essential for Hong Kong's stability and prosperity. And we have high hopes that the Hong Kong authorities will exericise restraint and respect protesters right to express their views reasonably," Kerry said.
Wang responded that Hong Kong affairs are totally China's internal affairs so that external powers have no right to interfere. "This is also a basic principle governing international relations," The Chinese minister said.
The core of Hong Kong's current affair is some people illegally gathered on purpose in the busiest streets, seriously interfering in the social order.
"I believe for any country, for any society, no one will allow those illegal acts that violate public order. That's the situation in the United States and that's the same situation in Hong Kong. We believe the Hong Kong special administrative region government has the capability to properly handle the situation in accordance with the law," said Wang.
Wang also stressed that China required US to speak and act cautiously and to abide strictly by the promise not to interfere in China's internal affairs and not to send wrong messages to other countries.
Wang was invited by US Secretary of State John Kerry to visit the U.S. from September 30th to October 2nd.
