Evernote CEO Phil Libin announced the latest features and products for the collaborative note-taking system at the company's developer conference in San Francisco this Thursday.

The note-taking and storage app, which has 100 million users worldwide, presented new collaboration and presentation tools that make it accessible and more valuable to its users.

Work Chat is one of the note-taking service's new offerings. This allows users to chat with multiple collaborators within the system in real time. This tool has been the most requested feature from users, Libin said.

Work Chat is meant to lessen the dependency of Evernote users on email. According to Libin, Evernote is trying to cut the tyranny of the inbox.

"The inbox metaphor made sense when you were talking about physical mail and it never made sense," he added.

Evernote Context surfaces information and suggests relevant content such as previous notes, other collaborators' items and news articles from third party sources users might use in their work.

Reports confirm that Work Chat and Context will be available on Android, iOS, Mac and Windows later this year.

An upgraded version of Presentation Mode is also included in the company's latest features. This tool automatically creates PowerPoint-style presentations with photos, notes, tables and maps.

Scannable, a new standalone document scanning app, is now available. Upgraded were Evernote Market's popular products such as Moleskine day planner and a redesigned Penultimate note-taking app.

Users can use their mobile cameras to scan documents and transform these into new notes. With the Scannable app open, the camera will recognize the document and capture it.

Along with other refreshed tools in Evernote, the company also introduced a brand-new web client with a distraction-free interface. The new client is available as an opt-in feature today, reports said.
