Kate Winslet, after such a long time of being really close friends with Leonardo DiCaprio, finally broke her silence about the nature of they relationship they have. Sadly, "Titanic" fans everywhere in the world will be disappointed.

"I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing," Winslet said in an interview with Marie Claire U.K.

It was the first time Winslet spoke at length about her relationship with DiCaprio.

"It's so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million songs but actually we never did. He always saw me as one of the boys. I've never really been a girly-girl," she explains.

Though the two obviously have on-screen chemistry, that chemistry did not carry on to real life. The two have been the closest of friends ever since starring together in the hit 1997 flick, "Titanic," but it never developed to anything other than friendship. The fact that the two retained it at just that baffles everyone who have seen just how perfect the two look together.

But alas, everyone's dreams of a DiCaprio-Winslet coupling was shot and left to die when DiCaprio was the one who walked Winslet down the aisle when she got married in 2012.

Winslet also added another reason why they remained friends. "We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system," she said.

DiCaprio also shared a few things about his friendship with Winslet when he was interviewed recently for Express.

"We laugh at the same things. She never lets me take myself seriously, even if I wanted to. We have a special magic," DiCaprio said of his female friend.
