Chinese Visitors’ Spending in UK May Reach 500 Million Pounds Annually by 2020

China is not just flooding world markets with its goods. Chinese tourists are also gobbling up goods in world markets, particularly in London.
Chinese consumers' spending in London may increase by a whooping 141% in the next six years, according to recent market data.
By 2020, Chinese citizens visiting London would be spending nearly 500 pounds per year, says global real estate service provider Savills.

The projected rise in Chinese spending in the British capital is due in part to the UK's recent move to simplify the visa application process for Chinese tourists.
Chancellor George Osborne had announced in October that the UK will make it easier for Chinese citizens to visit the country.
The Yuan's relative strength is also expected to further fuel higher overseas spending by the Chinese.
"The Chinese are now the biggest spending travelers globally, and with initiatives in place to make visiting the UK easier, the retail sector should see a positive impact over the forthcoming years, with London set to benefit the most," said Marie Hickey, associate director of research at Savills.
London is a top retail destination for international brands, 55 of which have already set up stores in the British capital in the last three years.
With the projected influx of globe-trotting, high-spending Chinese visitors, more retail brands are expected to set up shop in London before reaching to Asia.
