The European Space Agency (ESA) has finally revealed remarkable, highly detailed images of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko captured by the Rosetta probe.
These images are categorized as .wrl and .obj file formats and anyone who has a 3D printer and the right software can simulate and produce an actual model of the comet.

The latest images offer never seen before measurements of comet 67P, which is roughly four kilometers in size. The new images, however, reveal the exact measurements of the comet as 2.5 kilometers by 2.5 kilometers by 2 kilometers for the head, and 4.1 kilometers by 3.2 kilometers by 1.3 kilometers for the body.
Scientists have noted the odd rubber duck shape of the comet along with its jagged, rocky terrain.
Studies and observations by the Rosetta probe estimate the comet's mass should be around 10 billion tons. The comet possesses a density of 400 kilograms per cubic meter and completes a full rotation every 12.4 hours.
Comet 67P has an icy nucleus where subsurface temperatures drop to a negative 243 degrees Celsius to 113 degrees Celsius. The overall comet surface temperature ranges between negative 68 to 43 degrees Celsius.
Rosetta has also detected ammonia, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, methanol and even water--all in the form of gases.
Rosetta was launched in 2004 and traveled millions of miles into deep space to interecept Comet 67P.
After 10 years, Rosetta finally reached Comet 67P and entered the comet's orbit last August. It will launch its lander, Philae on November 12.
Philae will attach itself to the surface of the comet to study the latter's composition and terrain.
Rosetta will then hover around the comet and take photos with its OSIRIS cameras. On the other hand, Philae will study the comet for a period of six months.
Scientists believe that comets are ancient relics retained from the early stages of the birth of the solar system.
