The showdown between Manny Pacquiao vs, Floyd Mayweather Jr. might not get airing time from Showtime Boxing, as Al Haymon, the man behind Money May's boxing empire, is attempting to work out a multimillion deal with NBC Sports.
According to Sporting News, Haymon is brewing major power move in the sport of boxing after becoming the main provider of primetime 'boxing content' to cable giant NBC Sports.

Haymon and his group bested Main Event by putting on a $20 million offer on the table as the network's main provider of boxing content.
"Kathy Duva, head of Main Events, told BoxingScene.com that Haymon & Co. is replacing her group as NBC Sports' provider of boxing. Haymon's reported $20 million offer outstrips Main Events' ability to provide content, Duva said," via Sporting News.
Duva believed Haymon, with all the resources (money and elite fighters in his stable) he currently has right now, is planning to revolutionize the future of primetime boxing.
"He's promised NBC that he's going to take his fighters off premium cable ... He's going to put Showtime and HBO out of the puzzle," SportingNews.com quoted Duva.
"And he's going to do away with pay per view and create an over-the-top network. He's got the fighters and he's presumably got the money ... I pray he doesn't blow it, because if he does, we're not going back to (network TV for a while). If he's successful, all the networks will want boxing."
With this development, speculations are already floating that the megafight between Mayweather and Pacquiao could be aired on primetime TV on NBC Sports.
The development is a big blow for Showtime Boxing, which will likely miss the opportunity to cover the high-profile rumble between the two top welterweights as Mayweather's six-fight contract expires at the end of 2015.
