To celebrate the spring tea harvest season, Sichuan province held the "Foreign Friends' Spring Tea Picking" event, which is an offshoot of the fourth Chinese Tea Picking festival.

The tea picking event, held in Pujiang County on Saturday, included fun activities such as tea culture exchange salon, tea-picking, and a seminar that tackled the tea culture of both China and South Korea.

More than one hundred foreign friends, including consulate officials in Chengdu, commercial representatives and international students, gathered at the tea garden and experienced the unique tea culture of Sichuan.

They learned the art of tea-making, weaving bamboo baskets for tea-picking, and the cultural connotation of traditional tea manners.

"I never saw a tea tree before," said George, an international student from New York.

"Chinese green tea is very tasty," said Gao Liren, Assistant Director of American Overseas Student Center in Chengdu.

Gao likes to drink Chinese tea but does not know Chinese tea well; he hopes to understand Chinese tea culture better through this event.

"We believe the tea from Hedong County, South Korea, has high technological content according to its production process," a representative of Pujiang county said.

The representative said they hope to enter into joint ventures with South Korean cities that are involved in tea-making to further develop and promote the tea industry of both countries.
