It is a very popular show in China that showcases both new and veteran singers who perform each week. After the show ends they ask the public to vote for their favorite. The singer with the least number of votes is eliminated.
G.E.M. has been performing extremely well, and is the first singer in both Seasons 1 & 2 to be voted into first place for four weeks. G.E.M. is considered as one of the show's strongest competitors.
Her appearances on the show have been increasing her popularity in mainland China. She now has more than 8.5 million followers on Sina Weibo, most of them from mainland China.
G.E.M.'s increasing popularity has earned her several job offers, including a chance to perform with the cast of the equally popular variety show, "Where Are We Going, Dad?", for Hunan TV's 2014 New Year Gala.
"I'm more interested in singing theme songs. Acting is not my duty. Music is my duty. Unless I come upon a script that is related to music, like Beyoncé's 'Dream Girls', then I'll definitely say yes," said G.E.M. after confirming that she has indeed received many job offers.
G.E.M. Tang Tsz-Kei is a Hong Kong singer-songwriter born in Shanghai in 1991. Her G.E.M. stage name is an acronym for Get Everybody Moving.
